Polish Striker Says His ‘Mission Is Complete’ As Barca Prepare Emotional Camp Nou Farewell
Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has confirmed he will leave the Spanish club this summer after declaring that his “mission is complete” following four successful years at Camp Nou.
The veteran Polish forward announced his decision on Saturday through an emotional message shared on social media, bringing an end to a memorable spell that saw him help restore Barcelona’s dominance in Spanish football.
Lewandowski joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich in 2022 at a difficult period for the club, when the Catalan giants were battling financial problems and struggling to compete consistently at the highest level.
Since his arrival, the 37-year-old played a major role in rebuilding the team, helping Barcelona win three La Liga titles and lifting the Copa del Rey in 2025.
During his time at the club, Lewandowski scored an impressive 119 goals in 191 appearances across all competitions, cementing his place among Barcelona’s most influential recent signings.
In his farewell message, the striker reflected on the journey and expressed satisfaction with what he achieved during his stay in Spain.
According to him, the past four years were filled with challenges, hard work and unforgettable moments, but he now believes the time has come to move on to a new chapter in his career.
Lewandowski also stated that he leaves Barcelona feeling fulfilled after helping the club return to the top of Spanish football and become competitive again in Europe.
The Polish striker expressed gratitude to Barcelona fans for the support and love they showed him from the moment he arrived in Catalonia, describing the region as a special place that would always remain close to his heart.
Lewandowski is expected to play his final match at Camp Nou on Sunday against Real Betis, with Barcelona coach Hansi Flick confirming that the striker will start the game.
Flick, who also worked closely with Lewandowski during their successful years together at Bayern Munich, praised the forward for his professionalism, discipline and commitment throughout his career.
The German coach described Lewandowski as an exceptional role model for younger players, stressing that his dedication to maintaining top physical condition remains one of the reasons he continues performing at the highest level despite his age.
Flick also praised the striker’s personality and leadership qualities, calling him both a world-class footballer and a fantastic human being.
Barcelona also paid tribute to Lewandowski on social media, thanking him for his goals, fighting spirit and contributions to the club, while describing him as a player who arrived as a superstar and leaves as a club legend.
Lewandowski remains one of the most prolific strikers of his generation and finished as La Liga’s top scorer during his debut season under former Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez.
This season, he shared attacking responsibilities with Spain international Ferran Torres and still managed to score 18 goals in 44 matches.
Although Lewandowski did not reveal his next destination, reports have linked him with possible moves to clubs in Saudi Arabia and Major League Soccer in the United States.
