Mikel Arteta has heaped praise on Bukayo Saka, saying the Arsenal star now possesses the confidence, influence, and match-winning quality capable of driving Arsenal FC to their first Premier League title in over two decades.
According to Arteta, Saka has grown beyond being just a talented young player into one of the most decisive figures in the Arsenal squad, with his presence now creating fear and concern for opposing teams whenever he steps onto the pitch.
The Arsenal manager admitted the club deeply felt Saka’s absence during his recent injury spell, with the Gunners managing just one victory in the five matches he missed due to an Achilles problem. However, since making his return, the England international has played a huge role in reviving Arsenal’s momentum at the most crucial stage of the season.
Saka made an immediate impact upon his comeback, producing an assist and scoring in Arsenal’s convincing 3-0 victory over Fulham before delivering another major contribution in Europe. The winger scored the decisive goal that helped Arsenal secure a 2-1 aggregate victory over Atlético Madrid, sending the club into their first UEFA Champions League final since 2006.
Arteta believes Saka’s development over the years has transformed him into a player capable of changing games instantly, praising not only his technical quality but also the confidence and mentality he now carries within the team.
The Spanish coach explained that Saka’s role has significantly expanded both on and off the pitch, adding that opponents now approach Arsenal differently because of the threat the winger poses in attacking situations.
With Arsenal now just a few matches away from potentially ending their 22-year wait for a Premier League title, Saka is expected to remain central to the club’s ambitions as they prepare for crucial fixtures against West Ham, Burnley, and Crystal Palace.
The 24-year-old, who made his senior Arsenal debut seven years ago, has continued to establish himself as one of the club’s most important players, with Arteta convinced his influence, consistency, and ability to produce moments of brilliance could prove decisive in the title race.
