APC Extends Deadline for Form Sale and Submission to Monday and Tuesday
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially extended the deadline for the sale of its Expression of Interest and Nomination forms, as well as the submission of completed documents for the upcoming 2027 general elections. The move is seen as a strategic step to ensure broader participation and give all interested aspirants a fair opportunity to complete the process.
The decision was reached during a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), which took place on Thursday at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja. The meeting focused on reviewing the ongoing nomination process and addressing concerns raised by party members across the country.
Briefing journalists shortly after the meeting, the APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, stated that the extension became necessary due to a combination of factors, including the nationwide public holiday observed on Friday and the overwhelming interest from aspirants seeking to contest under the party’s platform.
According to Meseko, the party has received numerous appeals and inquiries from different states, with many prospective candidates requesting additional time to complete their purchases and submissions. He noted that the NWC carefully considered these concerns before arriving at a decision that balances inclusivity with the party’s electoral timetable.
Originally, the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms was scheduled to run from Saturday, April 25 to Saturday, May 2, 2026. The submission of completed forms, along with all necessary supporting documents, was initially fixed for Monday, May 4, 2026.
However, following the latest review, the sale of nomination forms will now continue until midnight on Monday, May 4, 2026. In addition, the deadline for submission of completed forms has been extended to Tuesday, May 5, 2026. The party also confirmed that the screening exercise for aspirants will now take place on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
Meseko emphasized that the extension is part of the APC’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and inclusiveness in its internal processes. He stressed that the party remains dedicated to providing a level playing field for all aspirants, regardless of their location or circumstances.
He further explained that the public holiday disrupted several administrative and logistical arrangements, making it difficult for some aspirants to meet the original deadlines. By extending the timeline, the party aims to eliminate these challenges and ensure that no interested member is disenfranchised.
The APC leadership expressed confidence that the revised schedule will allow for a smoother and more organized nomination process, while also reinforcing the party’s democratic values. As preparations for the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum, the party urged all aspirants to take full advantage of the extended window and comply with all requirements ahead of the new deadlines.
With the updated timetable now in place, attention will shift to the screening phase, which is expected to play a crucial role in determining the party’s candidates for various elective positions across the country.
