The Nigeria Police Force is set to arraign Adeniyi Adeyemi, who allegedly posed as the Director-General of a non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday.
Adeyemi, alongside two others, is facing an eight-count charge bordering on alleged forgery, impersonation and related offences.
According to court documents marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, the charges were filed by police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki on November 27, 2025.
The case was initially scheduled for hearing on June 16, but proceedings were postponed after Adeyemi was reported to be ill.
The prosecution has lined up several witnesses, including the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, as well as officials from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), police officers and other individuals linked to the case.
According to the police, key evidence expected to be presented in court includes the investigation report, a petition submitted by Gbajabiamila, an alleged fake presidential appointment letter, official correspondence sent to government agencies and other documents linked to the operations of the alleged fictitious agency.
The prosecution also plans to tender witness statements, photographs and additional documentary evidence during the trial.
Police alleged that Adeyemi operated the fake government agency from the Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase III, Abuja, before he was eventually arrested.
Following the discovery of the alleged fraud, President Bola Tinubu directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the activities of the non-existent agency.
The President also instructed the anti-graft agency to conclude its investigation within 30 days.
The case is expected to continue on Tuesday when the defendants are scheduled to take their plea.
