General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called on Nigeria’s security chiefs to decisively tackle insecurity, urging them to eliminate terrorists within 90 days or step down from office.
Speaking in a recent video shared by the church, Adeboye said the Federal Government must take urgent action against terrorism, banditry, kidnappings, and other security threats troubling the country.
The respected cleric noted that while religious leaders can only offer advice, the responsibility for implementing security decisions ultimately rests with the President as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
Adeboye recalled advising former President Muhammadu Buhari to give security chiefs a deadline to defeat Boko Haram and other criminal groups. According to him, Buhari acted on the suggestion and issued the directive, but failed to enforce consequences when the target was not achieved within the specified period.
The RCCG leader stressed that any fresh directive should not only focus on eliminating terrorists but also target those funding and supporting criminal activities, regardless of their status or influence in society.
He argued that insecurity cannot be completely addressed if sponsors of terrorism and violent crimes are allowed to operate freely behind the scenes.
Adeboye’s comments come at a time of growing concern over rising insecurity across the country, including recent kidnappings, attacks on communities, and the abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State.
The cleric urged authorities to act decisively and ensure that efforts to restore peace and security are backed by firm action and accountability.
