Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged Nigerians to continue praying for peace, unity, and mutual understanding as the country gradually approaches another political season.
Shettima made the appeal on Wednesday shortly after observing the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the Ramat Square Eid Ground in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Speaking to journalists after the prayers, the Vice President stressed the importance of maturity, tolerance, and peaceful conduct among politicians and citizens as political activities ahead of future elections begin to intensify.
“As we enter the political phase, there is a need for maturity, forbearance, and generosity of spirit in our political interactions,” Shettima said.
The Vice President also urged Nigerians and political leaders to place national interest above personal ambitions or party differences.
According to him, unity and peaceful coexistence remain essential for Nigeria’s democracy, stability, and overall development.
Shettima further appealed to Nigerians to continue supporting the administration of President Bola Tinubu, assuring citizens that the government remains committed to building a more peaceful and prosperous country.
“I call on Nigerians to continue supporting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he stated.
The Vice President explained that the current administration is focused on implementing policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of citizens and strengthening national stability.
He also encouraged Nigerians to continue praying for the country and for leaders at all levels, especially during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration period.
The message comes at a time when political discussions and alignments ahead of the 2027 elections are already gaining momentum across the country.
