Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have rescued 92 kidnapped victims after foiling a Boko Haram/ISWAP attack along the Biu–Buratai–Damaturu road in Borno State.
The military said the incident happened on Saturday when terrorists were spotted forcing civilians and vehicles off the highway into nearby bushes.
According to the military, troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion detected the terrorists through surveillance systems and immediately launched a swift rescue operation.
Reinforcement troops were also deployed as soldiers pursued the insurgents towards the Mangari-Dora area, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee.
The operation led to the successful rescue of 92 victims, including 52 men, 33 women and seven children.
Security forces also recovered eight vehicles abandoned during the attack.
In an attempt to slow down the troops, the terrorists reportedly planted three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the route.
However, military bomb disposal experts successfully detonated all the explosives without casualties.
The Army confirmed that no soldier or military equipment was lost during the operation.
The rescued victims were later escorted safely to Damaturu after receiving immediate support from troops.
Meanwhile, Operation HADIN KAI also dismissed a viral social media video alleging unpaid allowances and victimisation of soldiers.
The military described the claims as false and misleading, insisting that all legitimate allowances due to troops have been fully paid up to May 2026.
Authorities added that investigations showed the viral video was allegedly circulated by a content creator attempting to discredit the Armed Forces.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to defeating insurgency and protecting civilians across the North-East.
