Reality TV star and BBNaija winner, Phyna, has opened up about the emotional strain she faced from family members after she stopped giving out money freely following her rise to fame.
Speaking during a live session, the reality star said she spent heavily supporting relatives after winning Big Brother Naija, believing she was helping everyone around her.
According to her, she shared money constantly without thinking deeply about investments or her future.
“I thought I was helping my family sort out things. No money they call, na so I dey share am like mumu,” she said.
Phyna revealed that none of the adults around her encouraged her to invest wisely or manage her earnings properly.
She also recounted several financial demands from relatives, including requests for millions of naira, borehole projects and other expenses.
The reality star explained that problems started the moment she began refusing some of the requests or reducing the amount she gave out.
“The moment I started saying no, that’s when my problem started,” she said emotionally.
Phyna also recalled disagreements with her father over expensive building materials, saying she tried to cut costs when her finances started reducing.
According to her, she eventually realised she could not continue meeting everyone’s expectations.
The BBNaija star further reflected on how some relatives doubted her before fame, saying many never believed she would amount to anything meaningful.
