Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi could not hide his excitement after Hull City secured promotion back to the Premier League following a dramatic victory over Middlesbrough in the Championship Play-Off Final.
Hull City defeated Middlesbrough 1-0 at Wembley on Saturday to seal their return to England’s top flight for the first time since suffering relegation in 2017.
The winning goal came deep into stoppage time when striker Oli McBurnie capitalised on a costly mistake by Middlesbrough goalkeeper Sol Brynn to fire home and spark wild celebrations among Hull City supporters.
Ajayi played a key role in the tense final, delivering a solid defensive performance to help the Tigers hold firm under pressure.
The Nigerian international later took to social media to celebrate the achievement, writing: “God is the greatest. We did it. Up the Tigers.”
The 32-year-old defender completed several crucial clearances and defensive interventions as Hull City battled through a tightly contested encounter at Wembley.
Ajayi joined Hull City on a free transfer last summer after ending his six-year spell with West Bromwich Albion and has now helped the club secure a long-awaited return to the Premier League.
The experienced centre-back made 22 appearances during the 2025/26 season, contributing one goal and one assist.
