Damilola ‘Dapper’ Akinwunmi, CEO of Dapper Music, has responded to allegations of contractual violations and financial misconduct made by former signees Seyi Vibez, Shallipopi and T.I Blaze, challenging them to subject their claims to an independent forensic audit.
Akinwunmi addressed the controversy in a series of posts on X on Saturday, denying any wrongdoing and insisting that the relevant company records and contracts were available for scrutiny.
“I have nothing to hide. The records exist. The authorities have them. Let the process establish the truth,” he wrote.
He also accused his former signees of spreading what he described as false narratives online, insisting that they chose to leave the company voluntarily.
In a separate post apparently directed at Shallipopi, Akinwunmi questioned the singer’s previous statements concerning their contractual relationship.
He referred to an alleged missed meeting and challenged what he described as conflicting claims about whether Shallipopi’s signature was forged or whether he was pressured into signing a deal.
“You claim here that I forged your signature, but in your public statement in 2024, you claimed that you were pushed into a deal with Dapper Digital. Which is it???”
Akinwunmi also challenged his critics to select any reputable auditing or legal firm to examine his company’s finances and contractual agreements.
He listed firms including KPMG, PwC, Deloitte, Templers, Aluko & Oyebode, Olaniwun Ajayi LP and Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie as possible options for the review.
“Let them run a forensic analysis and interpret both the accounts and the contract for us, and tell you I cheated you?!”
He added that his company had already undergone an audit by what he described as a reputable firm and questioned the outcome of the financial relationship between the parties.
The response followed public criticism from former Dapper signees T.I Blaze, Seyi Vibez and Shallipopi, who have accused the music executive of licensing intellectual property without their consent and other alleged contractual breaches.
Akinwunmi has denied wrongdoing and maintained that an independent legal and financial review should determine the facts surrounding the dispute.
