Pelumi Olajengbesi, a spokesman for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election campaign, has threatened to sue Senator Francis Fadahunsi for N10 billion over alleged defamation and injurious falsehood.
Olajengbesi’s lawyer, Hammed Lasisi, issued the threat in a letter dated August 12, 2026, accusing the Osun East senator of making malicious and damaging statements about his client during television interviews.
The lawyer cited comments allegedly made by Fadahunsi during interviews on Viable TV on July 2 and Channels Television’s Politics Today on August 11.
According to the letter, Fadahunsi allegedly questioned Olajengbesi’s identity and accused him of using thugs and members of the Eiye and Aye groups.
The lawyer also cited a statement allegedly made by Fadahunsi during the Politics Today interview concerning the late Ajayi Aderogba, popularly known as Rogba.
“Rogba is an Eiye man sponsored by Barr. Olajengbesi terrorising the whole … my own territory up and down through all these Eiye and Aye,” Fadahunsi was quoted as saying.
Olajengbesi’s lawyer said the comments allegedly suggested that his client sponsors, finances or supports cult groups and deploys them to terrorise members of the public.
Olajengbesi Demands Retraction
Olajengbesi denied the allegations, saying he had never sponsored, financed, supported or provided resources to any cult group or its members for criminal, political or unlawful activities.
He also denied authorising anyone to terrorise, intimidate or attack members of the public on his behalf.
His lawyer demanded that Fadahunsi immediately retract the alleged defamatory statements and issue an unequivocal public apology through the same media platforms where the comments were made or circulated.
The letter gave the senator 24 hours to comply.
“Our Client demands an immediate retraction of the statements and an unequivocal public apology,” the lawyer stated.
The lawyer warned that failure to comply within the stipulated period would result in legal action seeking N10 billion in general and aggravated damages for alleged defamation and injurious falsehood.
The dispute comes just days before the August 15 Osun governorship election, amid heightened political tension and controversy surrounding Fadahunsi’s recent comments about members of the Accord Party.
