Pastor Jerry Eze, Founder and Lead Pastor of Streams of Joy International Ministry, has been appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director on the board of Heirs Life Assurance, the life insurance arm of Heirs Insurance Group.
The appointment took effect on Monday, August 10, 2026, according to a statement from the company.
Heirs Life Assurance said the appointment is part of its efforts to strengthen public confidence in insurance, expand financial inclusion and encourage more Nigerians to embrace insurance as a means of protecting their financial future.
The company noted that insurance penetration in Nigeria remains below one per cent, making greater public education and trust essential to expanding access to financial protection.
According to the insurer, Eze’s experience in community engagement and value-based leadership would provide a useful perspective as it works to make insurance more accessible to Nigerians.
The company also highlighted his work as convener of the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declaration (NSPPD), as well as his humanitarian activities through the Jerry Eze Foundation.
Heirs Life said the foundation has supported vulnerable communities through initiatives including housing assistance and grants. It also noted Eze’s announcement of N1 billion in grants in 2026 for young entrepreneurs in agriculture, technology and manufacturing.
Before entering full-time ministry, Eze worked in development communications, including as a Communications Specialist on a World Bank HIV/AIDS programme and with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in History and International Relations from Abia State University and a postgraduate degree in Business Administration from Enugu State University of Science and Technology.
Elumelu Welcomes Eze
Chairman of Heirs Life Assurance, Tony Elumelu, welcomed the appointment, describing Eze as someone with strong experience in working with people and communities.
“Pastor Jerry brings an exceptional combination of integrity, influence, and a deep understanding of people and communities,” Elumelu said.
He added that Eze’s contribution would help the company strengthen consumer trust and advance its efforts to expand insurance access across Nigeria.
“We are delighted to welcome him to the Board of Heirs Life Assurance and the broader family of Heirs Insurance Group,” Elumelu said.
‘I Am Honoured’
Reacting to his appointment, Eze said he was honoured to join the board at a significant period for Nigeria’s insurance industry.
“I am honoured to join the Board of Heirs Life Assurance at a defining moment for the insurance industry,” he said.
The pastor said financial security could give individuals, families and businesses greater confidence to pursue their goals.
He added that he looked forward to working with the board and management to make insurance more accessible and relevant to Nigerians.
