Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has dismissed criticism of his frequent dancing, saying the hobby has no effect on his ability to govern the state.
Adeleke spoke during the Arise Town Hall for Osun governorship candidates ahead of Saturday’s election, where he was asked about the criticism surrounding his dancing.
The governor said he remained serious about his responsibilities despite his public displays of dancing, stressing that there is a time for work and another for recreation.
“Nobody can stop me from dancing. As I’m dancing, I’m working,” Adeleke said.
He explained that while he could dance publicly, his approach to governance was different when handling official responsibilities.
“There’s time for everything, there’s time to dance, there’s time to work,” he added.
‘They Are Jealous’
Adeleke attributed some of the criticism from members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to jealousy, claiming that his critics could not dance like him.
“So, they are jealous because they don’t know how to dance. If they want, I will teach them how to dance, but that does not stop me from my work,” he said.
The governor, who is seeking re-election, also criticised his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola, claiming that he had yet to overcome his defeat in the previous election.
“Gboyega Oyetola is still suffering from the pain of defeat because he is a cousin to Mr President. He has caused a lot of problems in Osun State,” Adeleke said.
Adeleke maintained that dancing was simply a personal hobby and had no impact on his performance as governor.
“Dancing is a hobby; it does not disturb or affect my work,” he said.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.
