Reality TV star Phyna and skit maker Carter Efe emerged victorious in the celebrity boxing bouts at Balmoral Promotions’ Chaos in the Ring event in Lagos on October 1, 2026.
The event, held at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, featured celebrity clashes alongside professional boxing contests, with Ghanaian boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah also claiming the biggest victory of the night.
Phyna, whose real name is Josephina Otabor, made history by becoming the winner of Nigeria’s first female celebrity boxing bout after stopping Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing in their scheduled four-round contest.
Phyna dominated the contest before knocking out Nkechi Blessing to secure the victory and a ₦50 million prize.
After the fight, the former Big Brother Naija winner immediately set her sights on another Nollywood actress, Etinosa Idemudia, whom she accused of repeatedly disturbing her through direct messages.
“I came in, and I kept my cool and did the thing. Now I would like to fight Etinosa. I think it is time I teach her a lesson,” Phyna said.
Etinosa, who watched the fight from ringside, accepted the challenge and said she was ready to face Phyna.
“I have been advising you to carry the Edo name with pride. We do not run from any fight. I accept the challenge fully,” she said.
Following her victory, Phyna also indicated that she could pursue boxing professionally, suggesting that her celebrity bout may be the beginning of a longer journey in the sport.
In another highly anticipated celebrity contest, Carter Efe defeated musician Speed Darlington by technical knockout after dominating their four-round encounter.
Speed Darlington was stopped after he stopped moving during the bout, handing Carter Efe another victory in the Chaos in the Ring series.
The win also extended Carter Efe’s unbeaten record in the celebrity boxing competition. He had previously defeated singer Habeeb “Portable” Badmus on May 1, 2026, at the same Federal Palace Hotel venue.
Carter Efe won that three-round contest by unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring the fight 30-27 in his favour.
The rivalry between Carter Efe and Speed Darlington had generated considerable attention before their fight, with both entertainers trading provocative remarks during the build-up before settling the dispute inside the ring.
The night’s main event saw Nigeria’s Godday “Zodsolo” Appah lose his WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship to Ghana’s Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah.
Gyimah secured a unanimous decision victory to dethrone Appah and claim the continental title.
The Chaos in the Ring event brought together entertainers and professional boxers for a night featuring celebrity rivalries, crossover fights and championship boxing.
The event was broadcast live on SuperSport and DAZN, with Bet9ja powering the fight card.
