Nigerian dancer Pascal Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, has reportedly regained his freedom after spending weeks in detention in the United Kingdom over an alleged sexual assault case.
Reports of Poco Lee’s arrest emerged weeks ago after he was said to have been taken into custody in the UK in connection with a sexual assault allegation.
His management had previously acknowledged that the matter was before a UK court and appealed to the public to allow the legal process to take its course.
News of his reported release emerged yesterday, with several reports and social media users claiming that the dancer had been freed.
An Instagram user identified as lifedramar wrote: “Freedom at last! No one is guilty until proven. Congratulations to Poco Lee and the entire team who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make his release possible. And I also want to say this: celebrities and public figures can easily become targets, so please stay safe out there, guys.
“Be careful who you trust, where you go, and the people you surround yourself with. Fame comes with its own risks, so always stay alert and protect yourself. Welcome back to freedom!”
Popular online streamer and TikToker, Habeeb Hamzat, better known as Peller, also claimed that Poco Lee had been released after his time in a UK prison.
The 21-year-old influencer made the claim during a recent livestream while responding to a question from a viewer who wanted to know whether the dancer had regained his freedom.
Peller said the woman who accused Poco Lee had decided not to continue with the case and thanked her for withdrawing the complaint.
“Yes o, guys, Poco Lee is out. They talk say that girl that sue Poco Lee say the girl e run away from the case, say e leave the case. God go bless the girl, na God go bless am, is a good person.”
Peller further explained that the alleged withdrawal of the case resulted in Poco Lee’s release.
“The girl that make Poco Lee go to prison, the girl comot the case, UK lawyer con leave Poco Lee.”
However, Peller’s account has not been independently confirmed by a UK court or prosecuting authority as of the time of this report.
The circumstances surrounding Poco Lee’s reported release therefore remain based on the claims circulating online, while the details of the legal proceedings have not been officially confirmed.
