A support group campaigning for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election has commenced grassroots mobilisation across the seven states of Nigeria’s North-West geopolitical zone.
The group, Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria, inaugurated its coordinators and members from Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto and Zamfara states at an event in Kaduna on Saturday.
The organisers urged Nigerians to remain patient with the Tinubu administration, arguing that the country is undergoing a rebuilding and restructuring process through the government’s ongoing reforms.
Representing Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, at the event, his Special Adviser on Politics, Abubakar Muhammad Mamadi, said the North-West had benefited from several Federal Government interventions under Tinubu, particularly in agriculture, education, youth empowerment and women’s development.
Mamadi said the region’s largely agrarian economy had received various forms of government support, while financial assistance programmes had also been introduced for women, youths and traders.
He added that funding had been provided to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds, arguing that such interventions were helping to address some of the socio-economic challenges associated with insecurity and other problems in the region.
“No region has benefited under Tinubu’s administration like the North, particularly the seven states in the North-West region.”
He urged members of the support group to take the message of the administration’s achievements to rural communities and mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election.
Earlier, the group’s convener, Mike Auta, inaugurated coordinators and members across the seven North-West states.
Auta tasked the coordinators with carrying out extensive grassroots mobilisation, stressing that the campaign should extend beyond major cities to rural communities and hard-to-reach areas.
He urged members to visit communities across the region and convince residents to support Tinubu’s bid for another term.
The group’s women leader, Karima Abdullai, also highlighted government empowerment programmes targeted at women.
According to Abdullai, millions of women had benefited from cash assistance and empowerment items to establish or expand businesses in areas including tailoring, bakery and soap-making.
She urged women across the North-West to support Tinubu’s re-election, expressing confidence that another term would enable the administration to introduce further programmes for women.
Abdullai also claimed that feedback from women across the region showed increasing support for Tinubu and governors in the North-West ahead of the 2027 elections.
Meanwhile, the group’s Director of Town Hall Engagement and Special Duties, Farida Ahmed Bala, said the meeting was aimed at bringing government closer to citizens and creating an avenue for people to discuss their concerns and aspirations.
Bala described Kaduna as the “heartbeat of the North-West” and said the gathering was focused on issues affecting farmers, traders, youths, students and artisans.
She stressed that nation-building should be viewed as a collective responsibility because government alone could not solve all of Nigeria’s challenges.
Bala also appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the Tinubu administration, comparing the government’s reforms to renovating a neglected house.
“When a house has been neglected for many years, repairing it may cause some discomfort before the house becomes beautiful again.”
She argued that temporary difficulties should not cause Nigerians to abandon the reform process, adding that patience would eventually lead to progress and prosperity.
The organisers said the Kaduna inauguration marked the beginning of a broader grassroots mobilisation campaign across the North-West aimed at building support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
