The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has given candidates with outstanding admission offers dating from 2021 to 2026 a final 30-day window to accept or reject them, extending the deadline to September 30, 2026.
The Board had earlier fixed August 31 as the deadline, but has now granted affected candidates an additional month to regularise their admission records.
In a statement issued on Saturday by its spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB warned that the new deadline would be final, with no further extension after September 30.
Candidates whose admission offers remain neither accepted nor rejected by the deadline will have their offers automatically reverted to “Not Admitted” on JAMB’s records.
The Board urged affected candidates, including those with regular and Centralised University Information Admission (CUIIA) offers, to take action before the deadline.
Candidates who accept their previous offers will be able to print and obtain their admission letters, while those who no longer want the offers can reject them to allow JAMB to update its national admission database.
JAMB also clarified that candidates who were offered admission into institutions they no longer attend, or who are currently studying different programmes, can accept their old admission and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion where necessary.
Candidates already pursuing a second degree but with an unaccepted previous admission offer may also reject the old offer and continue with their current programme.
The Board further assured candidates who have secured admission during the ongoing 2026 admission exercise that rejecting an older outstanding offer will not affect their current admission.
JAMB said the measure is aimed at ensuring that its national admission database accurately reflects the current status of candidates and institutions.
“Candidates should not wait until the deadline.”
The Board reiterated that September 30, 2026, is the final deadline, warning that outstanding offers not acted upon will be invalidated and recorded as “Not Admitted.”
