Nigerian socialite Tiamiu Abdulrahman Kayode, popularly known as Rahman Jago, has spoken out following reports that his friend and colleague, dancer Poco Lee, is being held on remand in the United Kingdom over an alleged assault offence.
Poco Lee, whose real name is Iweh Odinaka, is reportedly expected to appear before Snaresbrook Crown Court in London in September.
Reacting to the development, Rahman Jago expressed concern over what his friend is going through and urged people not to use the situation to seek attention or “chase clout” online.
The socialite said he believes there is more to the situation than what has been publicly reported and called on people to support Poco Lee during what he described as a difficult period.
“Seeing my brother go through such a serious and painful situation is heartbreaking. I know the person he is, and I truly believe there is more to this situation than what people may have heard.”
Rahman Jago added that Poco Lee is known for bringing joy to people and said the current situation was a time for him to receive support rather than be targeted for online attention.
His comments come amid growing reactions to reports of Poco Lee’s detention, with several social media users weighing in on the development.
Reports of his detention began circulating online on August 19, following fresh allegations by rapper Ms Jorji, who claimed that Poco Lee attempted to sexually assault her and her friend.
However, details surrounding the allegation remain limited, and the matter is expected to come before the court at Poco Lee’s scheduled hearing.
The reports were previously confirmed by Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby and founder of the Community of Nigerians in the United Kingdom. Kuti said Poco Lee was currently on remand in a UK prison and was expected to have a plea hearing in September.
“I can confirm that the reports are true. Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison.”
Kuti also said he planned to attend the proceedings to support the dancer during the legal process.
