APC governorship candidate in the Osun State election, Bola Oyebamiji, has spoken publicly for the first time since losing the August 15 election to incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke.
In a statement posted on X on Tuesday, Oyebamiji said he respected the position of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which declared Adeleke the winner with 511,067 votes against his 444,815 votes.
“We respect the position of the electoral umpire,” Oyebamiji said.
The APC candidate thanked party leaders, members, supporters and volunteers who backed his campaign, saying he remained proud of the alternative vision presented to Osun voters.
Oyebamiji said that although the election did not produce the outcome his campaign expected, the issues and values he championed remained relevant.
He also said he supported the APC’s ongoing review of the election results and urged his supporters to remain peaceful and committed to the development of the state.
However, Oyebamiji raised concerns over alleged attacks on APC members and supporters following the election. He called on the state government and security agencies to intervene, while urging his supporters to remain calm.
He said the campaign may have ended, but his commitment to working for “effective, inclusive and rapid development” in Osun remained.
