Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has said the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu are helping states execute major development projects while meeting salary and pension obligations without relying on borrowing.
Radda made the remarks on Sunday during the Tinubu/Dikko Assured (TDA) 2027 Islamiyya Teachers’ Empowerment, school commissioning and virtual commissioning of 45 solar streetlights in Katsina.
The governor said governments should be judged by their tangible achievements and measurable results rather than political rhetoric, stressing that elected officials must fulfil the promises they make to citizens.
According to Radda, Katsina State has moved away from borrowing to pay workers’ salaries. He said his administration had executed projects worth more than N30 billion without taking loans, while maintaining regular payment of salaries and pensions.
“Every project currently being executed in the state is funded without borrowing,” Radda said.
He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prudent financial management and said the state would continue to prioritise projects that directly benefit residents.
Radda commended the Tinubu/Dikko Assured initiative for supporting grassroots communities, particularly Islamiyya school teachers.
He announced a personal donation of N10,000 each to 690 beneficiaries, amounting to N7 million.
The governor urged individuals, businesses and philanthropists to support government efforts through community-based initiatives, noting that sustainable development requires collective participation.
He also cautioned residents against allowing misinformation to overshadow what he described as genuine development and challenged political aspirants to present practical solutions and clear development plans to voters.
Former Katsina State Governor and TETFund Chairman, Aminu Masari, also called on public office holders to remain focused on improving citizens’ welfare.
Masari highlighted federal infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and road improvements along the Kaduna-Abuja route, describing them as examples of leadership capable of supporting economic growth and agricultural productivity.
The Director-General of Tinubu/Dikko Assured (TDA) 2027, Umar Zayyad, said the organisation had expanded its interventions to Islamiyya schools as part of its focus on education and community development.
The Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, Bala Musawa, meanwhile, praised Radda’s empowerment programmes and development projects and expressed confidence that the party would retain its political dominance in the state in 2027.
The event was attended by government officials, traditional rulers, political leaders, business representatives and other dignitaries.
