Osun State Governor and Accord Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has thanked God and the people of the state following his victory in the governorship election, saying he expects his main challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to congratulate him.
Adeleke spoke after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him winner of the election, describing the result as a victory for democracy and an endorsement of his administration.
The governor credited his victory to the support of Osun residents and pointed to his administration’s efforts in infrastructure, healthcare, security and other areas.
“I thank God Almighty for this victory. It’s a victory for democracy. Victory for Osun election,” Adeleke said.
He said the result represented the people’s appreciation of what his administration had delivered across the state.
“The victory is a way Osun people is repaying me for the infrastructural developments, health, security and other things I have delivered for my people.”
Adeleke adopted a conciliatory tone after the election, stressing that the contest should not create division among the people.
“It’s no victor, no vanquish. I am expecting for the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, to call me and congratulate me.”
The governor also expressed his confidence in God, saying, “I have a God who never fails.”
He further thanked President Bola Tinubu for what he described as a successful election.
