Imo State Governor and Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodinma, has urged Osun voters to reject violence and intimidation as the state prepares for Saturday’s governorship election.
Uzodinma made the appeal on Thursday at the APC mega rally in Osogbo, where he campaigned for the party’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO.
The governor said the APC was committed to peaceful participation and urged voters not to allow political activities to degenerate into violence.
“APC is not known for violence; APC is not known for trouble. APC is a party built on ideology, with progressive minds as members.”
He also warned voters against joining political groups that could cause unrest during the election.
“Don’t join the ugly parties in causing violence, killings, trouble-shooting. We have come to convince you to vote for APC on Saturday.”
Uzodinma asks Osun voters to support APC
Uzodinma called on residents to come out in large numbers and vote for Oyebamiji and his running mate, saying APC governors were in Osun to mobilise support for the party.
He argued that an APC victory would bring Osun closer to the federal government and other APC-controlled states.
“Osun State must be taken to the national grid. We the 31 governors of APC are in Osun State to welcome the state into our fold, to convince you.”
The Imo governor also appealed to supporters of other political parties to maintain peace, saying the protection of democracy should be more important than political differences.
“No violence, no intimidation, we must protect our democracy.”
He further urged voters to support President Bola Tinubu, arguing that an APC victory in Osun would contribute to the administration’s efforts to transform Nigeria.
“So when you vote on Saturday, you’re voting for a new Nigeria.”
The Osun governorship election is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, with voters across the state expected to choose their next governor.
