The Maxwell Mgbudem-led Accord Party says it is confident that Governor Ademola Adeleke will secure a second term in office at Saturday’s Osun governorship election.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Joseph Omorogbe, said the party believes Adeleke’s performance during his first term has earned him the support of voters across the state.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Omorogbe said Accord was fully prepared for the election and was not intimidated by the political activity and security presence surrounding the poll.
“We are persuaded as a party that the victory is sure. The voice of the people will speak, and the votes of the people will count.”
Accord urges INEC and security agencies to remain neutral
Omorogbe called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a free, fair and peaceful election and ensure that results are announced promptly.
He also urged the police and other security agencies to remain neutral and operate strictly within the law.
According to him, any attempt to manipulate the process or intimidate voters would be resisted, while he warned political actors against actions that could endanger residents.
“No political ambition is worth the life of any Osun resident.”
The Accord spokesperson also urged voters to reject vote-buying, remain calm and turn out in large numbers to cast their ballots.
He said the party’s national leaders were already in Osun to monitor the election and expressed confidence that Adeleke would be declared the winner if the process remained transparent.
“By the grace of God, by Sunday we shall celebrate with the good people of Osun for having re-elected Adeleke for the next four years.”
The Osun governorship election is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, with Adeleke facing several challengers, including APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji.
