The Obi–Kwankwaso (OK) Movement in Enugu State has raised concerns over what it described as an alleged attempt to create confusion and weaken the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The movement, in a statement issued by its Chief Press Secretary, Ani Ifeanyi Moses, urged party members and supporters to remain united and only recognise directives coming from the legitimate leadership of the party.
The group alleged that some individuals were attempting to create what it described as a “non-existent faction” within the NDC through impersonation, unauthorised claims to leadership positions and the circulation of misleading information.
According to the movement, the alleged activities could create unnecessary divisions within the party at a time when members should be concentrating on preparations for the 2027 elections.
The OK Movement specifically accused unnamed individuals of impersonating party officials and attempting to cause instability within the NDC in Enugu State.
“It is intentional to create division and confusion, knowing that Enugu is the support base of Mr. Peter Obi, and we must resist it,” the statement said.
The movement maintained that efforts to create internal divisions could undermine democratic principles and called on those allegedly involved to stop such activities.
It also urged political actors to allow the party’s established internal mechanisms and legal processes to address disagreements instead of resorting to actions capable of deepening tensions.
The group further cautioned against involving young Nigerians in political conflicts, stressing that personal ambitions should not be allowed to undermine the broader objective of building what it described as a credible political alternative ahead of 2027.
The OK Movement called on NDC members and supporters to remain calm, united, vigilant and resolute, while disregarding instructions that do not come through recognised party leadership or official communication channels.
Members were also advised to verify political information before acting on it, particularly in light of what the movement described as unauthorised announcements circulating within the political space.
Describing the political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections as a “New Nigeria project,” the movement said the initiative should be viewed as bigger than individual ambitions, positions or political offices.
It reaffirmed its commitment to promoting democratic values, accountability and good governance, while mobilising support for what it described as a competent and people-focused government ahead of the 2027 elections.
The movement concluded by appealing for unity among its members, warning that internal disagreements and divisions could weaken the collective political ambitions of the group as preparations for the next general elections intensify.
