The Kogi State House of Assembly has praised the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, for his contributions to the development of Kogi State and Nigeria.
The lawmakers also confirmed the appointment of Dr. Saliu Muhammed Ibn Ali as a permanent member of the Kogi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
The commendation for Abdullahi followed a motion moved by Hon. Suleiman Abdulrazak, who applauded the ECN boss for facilitating the establishment of the Barefoot Renewable Energy College at the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara.
According to the lawmaker, Abdullahi has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to national development, particularly through projects that promote renewable energy and educational advancement in Kogi State.
He described the ECN Director-General as a nation-builder whose efforts have delivered lasting benefits to both the state and the country.
Following deliberations, the Assembly resolved to formally commend Abdullahi for his vision and dedication to expanding renewable energy education and supporting development initiatives in Kogi.
In a separate development, lawmakers confirmed the appointment of Dr. Saliu Muhammed Ibn Ali as a permanent member of the Kogi SUBEB after he successfully underwent screening at the Assembly Complex in Lokoja.
During the screening, members of the House described Ibn Ali as a competent and experienced public servant capable of contributing meaningfully to the improvement of basic education in the state.
The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, who also chaired the screening committee, urged the newly confirmed board member to carry out his responsibilities with transparency, dedication and integrity.
He encouraged Ibn Ali to use his wealth of experience to strengthen the delivery of quality basic education across Kogi State.
Responding after his confirmation, Ibn Ali expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the confidence reposed in him.
He also thanked members of the Assembly for approving his appointment and pledged to justify the trust placed in him by working diligently to improve basic education in the state.
