Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed confidence that he will secure victory in the August 15 governorship election, insisting that the outcome will favour him if the election is conducted in a free, fair and credible manner.
Speaking during his re-election campaign in Osogbo on Monday, Adeleke said he remains optimistic about his chances and urged his supporters to turn out in large numbers on election day.
“With God on my side, I am confident of victory. If this election is free and fair, I will win,” the governor said.
Adeleke also appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that security agencies, particularly the police, remain neutral throughout the election.
The governor alleged that members of his party were being attacked and called on the President to prevent violence and protect the integrity of the electoral process.
“Mr President, something is happening in Osun that you need to know. Our people are being killed… Direct the police to act professionally and impartially,” he said.
He further urged the President not to allow anyone undermine the country’s democracy, noting that the international community would closely monitor the election.
“The international community is watching, and this election will be seen as a test ahead of the 2027 general elections,” Adeleke added.
The governor also encouraged voters to come out massively on August 15, cast their votes and remain at polling units until the results are officially announced.
“I am ready for this election, and on election day, our revolution will be through the ballot box,” he stated.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled to hold on August 15, with political parties intensifying campaigns across the state ahead of the poll.
