Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) has shared a heartfelt story about his marriage, revealing that he handed over the first ₦100 million cheque he ever received to his wife, Jumobi, as a gift.
The 65-year-old screen icon made the revelation during an interview on The Morayo Show, where he described himself as an “incurable romantic” and spoke about how much he enjoys expressing love through thoughtful gestures.
According to RMD, while traditional gifts like flowers and chocolates are nice, he believes many women today appreciate financial gifts even more, especially when giving aligns with their love language.
“I’m an incurable romantic. These days, it isn’t about flowers and chocolates anymore because ladies like money,” he said.

The award-winning actor explained that gift-giving is his wife’s love language, adding that one of the greatest compliments she gives him is saying that many of the valuable things she owns were bought by him.
Recalling the moment he received his biggest cheque at the time, RMD said he did not hesitate to hand it over to his wife.
“The first biggest cheque I ever received was for ₦100 million. When it was presented to me, I told my manager to give it to my wife. When she got it, she asked if I wanted her to keep it for the children. I told her no, that she should keep it for herself and do whatever she wanted with it,” he said.
The veteran actor, however, admitted that he knew a large part of the money would eventually be used to cater for their children, but he still wanted the gift to belong to his wife.
RMD’s revelation has since sparked conversations on social media, with many fans praising the actor for his romantic gesture and the strong bond he shares with his wife.
