The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reminded eligible Nigerians that the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise officially ends today, urging citizens not to miss their final opportunity to register or update their voter information ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a post shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, the electoral body encouraged prospective voters to take advantage of the last day of the exercise to secure their eligibility to vote.
“Time is running out, but there’s still an opportunity to make your voice count,” INEC said.
The commission explained that the CVR exercise covers new voter registration, transfer of voter registration, correction of personal details, and replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
INEC urged Nigerians who are yet to complete the process to either register through its online CVR portal or visit any of its state or local government offices before the exercise closes.
“Register to vote or update your voter information before the close of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) today, Sunday, 26 July 2026,” the commission stated.
The voter registration exercise began in August 2025 with online pre-registration before physical registration commenced later that month.
According to INEC, the first phase recorded 2,572,054 completed registrations, including 1,503,832 online registrations and 1,068,222 physical registrations.
The second phase, which ran from January 5 to April 17, 2026, recorded an additional 3,748,704 completed registrations nationwide.
The commission later launched the third phase of the exercise in May and, in July, extended the registration period by two weeks to allow more eligible Nigerians to participate.
INEC stressed that taking part in the Continuous Voter Registration exercise is a requirement for anyone who intends to vote in the 2027 general election, urging citizens not to wait until it is too late.
