The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for various entry-level positions across Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12.
According to the commission, the online application portal opened on Monday, July 20, and will close on Monday, July 27, with interested applicants advised to complete their applications before the deadline.
INEC said the recruitment is aimed at strengthening its workforce in key areas such as electoral administration, voter registration, election logistics and data management, to improve the delivery of its constitutional responsibilities.
The commission stressed that the recruitment exercise is completely free of charge, warning applicants against submitting false information or forged documents.
“The recruitment exercise is entirely free. Applicants who provide false information or submit forged documents will be disqualified and may face prosecution,” the commission warned.
Available Positions
The vacancies are divided into three categories:
For the Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12), INEC is recruiting:
- Accountants
- Clinical Officers
- Lawyers
- ICT Officers
- Engineers
- Quantity Surveyors
Applicants for these positions must possess a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, while some roles may require a Master’s degree. Relevant professional certifications such as ICAN, ANAN, NBA, COREN, NSE, NIQS or CPN, alongside at least two years’ post-qualification experience and an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, may also be required.
For the Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 08, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree, Higher National Diploma (HND) or its equivalent in the Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences, as well as an NYSC certificate and basic ICT skills.
Applicants for the Executive Officer (Registration Officer) – Grade Level 07 are required to possess a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or its equivalent, with basic computer knowledge, good communication skills and the ability to manage records effectively.
General Requirements
According to INEC, applicants must:
- Be 35 years old or below
- Possess a valid Certificate of State of Origin
- Be physically and mentally fit, certified by a government medical officer
- Have no criminal conviction
- Be willing to work anywhere in Nigeria
- Demonstrate integrity, discipline and commitment to public service
How To Apply
Interested applicants are required to:
- Visit the INEC recruitment portal
- Create an account using their personal details, email address and National Identification Number (NIN)
- Verify their email address
- Select their preferred position
- Upload all required documents, including:
- Passport photograph
- Birth certificate or declaration of age
- O’Level result
- Degree, HND, ND or NCE certificate
- Local Government Identification Certificate
- NYSC certificate (where applicable)
INEC noted that applicants cannot change their chosen position after submitting their application, adding that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the next stage of the recruitment process.
The commission encouraged all qualified Nigerians to complete their applications before the July 27 deadline.
