President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the impact of his administration’s economic reforms will soon be felt across the country, insisting that the policies are designed to build a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
The President gave the assurance on Thursday during the inauguration of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Abuja. He was represented at the event by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who said the administration remains committed to delivering the dividends of good governance despite the temporary challenges caused by ongoing reforms.
Since assuming office in May 2023, Tinubu has introduced major economic policies, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market, which the government says are necessary to reposition Nigeria’s economy for long-term growth.
According to the President, reforms are not meant to make life harder for citizens but to create a solid foundation for future generations.
“The purpose of reform is not to make life difficult for the people, but to lay the foundation upon which future generations can build lives of greater dignity, prosperity, opportunities, and lasting progress. Lasting progress is rarely achieved without temporary sacrifice,” Tinubu said.
He also assured Nigerians that all arms of government are working together to ensure citizens begin to experience the benefits of the reforms.
“We are working together to ensure that every Nigerian feels the impact of our reforms,” he stated.
The President urged members of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement to engage Nigerians respectfully, listen to their concerns and strengthen public confidence in democracy and national unity.
He stressed that while elections may produce winners and losers, Nigeria’s collective interest must always come first, adding that patriotism and service remain the foundation of lasting national development.
