The Presidency has criticised former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi over his recent move to the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), accusing him of frequently changing political parties and questioning his readiness to lead Nigeria.
Speaking during an interview on The Morayo Show, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, said Obi’s political history raises concerns about his leadership credentials ahead of the 2027 general election.
Bwala also dismissed the opposition coalition, describing it as an alliance of politicians lacking consistency and a clear direction.
“Their conspiracy was exposed most recently when the people they are supporting suddenly decided to form what they call one opposition and within the space of three months, they will have to change three times minimum,” he said.
Taking a direct swipe at Obi, the presidential spokesman alleged that the former governor has a history of moving from one political platform to another.
“Their master, Peter Obi’s chequered history is that of changing parties like a table tennis,” Bwala stated.
He further argued that anyone seeking to become Nigeria’s president should be able to manage political crises instead of leaving parties whenever disagreements arise.
“The one who wants to govern Nigeria has not been able to answer the question why he runs away when he sees a crisis in a party. Anybody who wants to govern a country must be able to face crisis,” he added.
The remarks come amid increasing political realignments and coalition talks ahead of the 2027 general election, with the ruling APC and opposition parties intensifying political activities.
