The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a major change to its visa application process in the United States, ending its partnership with its third-party visa processing provider, Online Integrated Solutions (OIS Services).
With the immediate termination of the contract, travelers seeking Nigerian visas from the US must now submit their applications directly to Nigerian diplomatic missions until further notice.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by the NIS Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi, although the agency did not state why the agreement with OIS Services was discontinued.
According to the NIS, visa applications will now be received at the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., as well as the Nigerian Consulates in New York and Atlanta.
“Travelers seeking Nigerian visas are now required to submit their applications directly at the embassy of Nigeria in Washington, DC, or at the consulates of Nigeria in New York and Atlanta until further notice,” Akinlabi said.
He assured applicants that the embassy and consulates have already put the necessary measures in place to ensure a seamless transition, adding that visa submission, processing and approvals will continue without interruption.
The immigration service also advised applicants to regularly check the official communication channels of the NIS and Nigeria’s diplomatic missions in the United States for further updates on visa application procedures.
