Popular TikTok star Jarvis has responded to rapper Ycee after his recent comments about Nigeria’s growing “olodo uprising” and the rise of internet culture sparked debate online.
Ycee had earlier criticised what he described as the increasing celebration of ignorance and referenced both “Yahoo culture” and “Peller culture” during a podcast interview.
Reacting in a viral video, Jarvis defended content creators, arguing that many educated Nigerians have turned to digital platforms because of the country’s limited job opportunities.
“I went to school. I graduated. Since the government didn’t provide jobs, what did you expect people to do?” she said.
The TikTok creator also defended her fiancé, Peller, insisting that entertaining people online should not be mistaken for a lack of intelligence.
According to her, creating content is a legitimate way to earn a living, especially in an economy where many graduates struggle to find employment.
Jarvis added that digital platforms have created opportunities for thousands of young Nigerians to support themselves legally.
“We’re fortunate these platforms exist. Without them, how would many people survive?” she added.
Her response has sparked fresh conversations on social media, with some users agreeing with Ycee’s concerns about changing societal values, while others backed Jarvis, saying there is nothing wrong with making an honest living through content creation.
The exchange has reignited discussions about education, unemployment and the growing influence of Nigeria’s digital economy.
