Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga has said he does not agree with claims that the level of hunger often highlighted by critics reflects the reality across the country.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, Onanuga argued that several policies introduced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration are already benefiting Nigerians through improved infrastructure, student loans and affordable credit facilities.
According to him, government projects have made noticeable differences in the lives of many citizens, particularly in transportation and access to financial support.
“I don’t see the level of hunger people are talking about.”
The presidential aide cited his personal experiences on newly constructed roads, including routes around the Ijebu-Ode axis and the Lagos coastal corridor, as examples of projects that have improved daily life.
He also pointed to the Federal Government’s student loan programme, saying families with children in higher institutions now have access to interest-free educational support.
Onanuga further highlighted low-interest credit schemes available to civil servants, arguing that such initiatives are helping many Nigerians cope with economic realities.
The presidential spokesman maintained that public discussions often focus on negative assumptions while overlooking positive developments and ongoing government interventions.
While acknowledging existing economic challenges, he insisted that his personal interactions with people do not reflect the scale of hardship frequently portrayed in public debates.
His remarks have since generated reactions as conversations continue over the state of the economy and the living conditions of Nigerians.
