Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has marked the third anniversary of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), revealing that more than 27,000 residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have benefited from the programme since its launch.
Speaking at an event in Abuja themed “Our Stories, Her Impact,” the First Lady encouraged girls and young women to remain ambitious and never give up on their dreams.
According to her, having a vision and working towards it is essential for personal growth and success.
“If you don’t have a dream or vision for your future, it becomes difficult to move forward.”
Mrs Tinubu explained that the Renewed Hope Initiative was established to complement government efforts by supporting vulnerable groups through targeted interventions.
She said the programme has provided assistance to women, youths, children, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, farmers and communities affected by disasters or conflict.
The First Lady noted that the initiative has delivered support through scholarships, skills acquisition programmes, economic empowerment schemes, healthcare interventions and agricultural assistance.
Presenting the FCT impact report, officials disclosed that 27,345 beneficiaries were reached through several intervention programmes over the past three years.
Beneficiaries reportedly included children, women, farmers, elderly citizens and persons living with disabilities.
Mrs Tinubu thanked stakeholders, development partners and community leaders for supporting the initiative while urging beneficiaries to extend kindness and support to others within their communities.
She also reaffirmed the programme’s commitment to expanding its reach and improving lives across the country.
