President Bola Tinubu has said his administration is laying the foundation for a new Nigeria designed to deliver prosperity and opportunities for all citizens.
The president made the statement on Tuesday during the inauguration of the construction of two service carriageways along the Southern Parkway in Abuja, a project aimed at improving traffic flow and connectivity within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Represented by APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, Tinubu acknowledged that some of the reforms introduced by his government over the past three years have been challenging but insisted they were necessary for long-term national development.
“We are laying the foundation for a new Nigeria that works — and works for all and for our common prosperity.”
According to the president, ongoing investments in roads, bridges, rail infrastructure and housing projects are already beginning to produce visible results across the country.
Tinubu noted that the newly inaugurated road project would help ease traffic congestion, reduce travel time and improve movement for residents and businesses in several districts within Abuja.
He added that the project forms part of his administration’s broader infrastructure agenda under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to drive economic growth and improve the quality of life for Nigerians.
The president also praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for his role in delivering infrastructure projects in the capital city, describing him as a results-driven leader.
“Through your action, and not just talk alone, you’ve shown that truly, you are Mr Project.”
Speaking at the event, Wike assured residents that work on the project would continue despite political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He also pledged that the road project would be completed and commissioned before the next election cycle while warning against illegal developments along the designated road corridor.
The latest project is part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to modernize infrastructure and improve transportation networks across the country.
