Veteran Nollywood actor, Ejike Asiegbu, has said films should go beyond entertainment and serve as tools for education and positive social change.
Speaking in a recent interview, the actor reflected on Nollywood’s journey over the years, noting that the industry has recorded major improvements in storytelling, production quality and professional standards.
According to Asiegbu, many fans still appreciate the strong storylines that defined older Nollywood productions, even as the industry continues to evolve.
The veteran actor also praised the growing number of women in filmmaking, describing their contributions as vital to the industry’s development and creative growth.
He further commended younger actors for embracing the profession and learning from experienced industry figures, noting that the combination of old and new talents has made Nollywood more dynamic.
Asiegbu acknowledged the impact of digital platforms such as YouTube and social media, saying they have created new opportunities for actors and filmmakers to showcase their work to global audiences.
However, he stressed that while glamour and entertainment are important, movies should also inspire, educate and leave meaningful messages for viewers.
The actor also advised aspiring entertainers to remain disciplined, humble and focused, saying success comes easier when young talents are willing to learn from those who came before them.
