The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has said the Federal Government’s economic reforms have significantly increased the resources available to state governments, enabling them to embark on more development projects.
Onanuga made the statement in Umuahia, Abia State, during a reception held for participants of the Renewed Hope Projects Media Tour, an initiative designed to showcase projects executed by both the Federal Government and state governments across the country.
According to him, the tour offers journalists and other participants the opportunity to independently assess ongoing projects and witness the impact of government policies on citizens.
He stressed that stronger collaboration between the Federal Government and state governments is helping to drive development nationwide.
“The federal and state governments are working together for the progress of Nigerians. The resources now available to states are enabling them to undertake projects that improve the lives of citizens,” Onanuga said.
Also speaking at the event, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, represented by his deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu, described the media tour as an important initiative that promotes transparency, accountability, and public awareness of government activities.
Otti noted that his administration has focused on rebuilding public confidence through transparent governance, infrastructure development, improved security, healthcare, education, and economic growth.
“Over the past three years, our administration has remained committed to rebuilding public trust through transparent governance, improving infrastructure, enhancing security, revitalisation of education and healthcare sectors, supporting businesses and creating an enabling environment for economic growth and investment,” he said.
The governor added that the progress being recorded across the state is visible in the transformation of communities and the growing confidence of residents.
He also commended the Presidency for organising the media tour and highlighted the need to mentor young journalists, urging them to uphold professionalism, integrity, and ethical standards in the discharge of their duties.
Earlier, the Abia State Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, encouraged members of the media team to remain objective and professional while reporting on government projects.
He noted that their reports would help Nigerians better understand efforts being made at different levels of government to improve the welfare of citizens.
