Nigerian forward Stanley Iheanacho has completed a return to Danish club FC Midtjylland after sealing a long-term move from Portuguese side CD Mafra.
The 21-year-old striker signed a contract that will keep him at the Superliga club until December 2030, marking a new chapter in his career after spending the last two seasons in Portugal.
Iheanacho previously came through FC Midtjylland’s youth system before moving to Mafra, where he continued his development and established himself as one of the club’s promising attacking players.
During his time in Portugal, the Nigerian forward made 65 appearances and scored 17 goals, attracting attention with his consistent performances.
Speaking after completing the move, Iheanacho expressed his excitement about returning to a club he already knows well.
“I already know many of the players because several of those I played with in the Under-19 team and at Mafra are now part of the first team,” he told the club’s official website.
The young striker also shared his ambitions for the future.
“I am excited to be back. I hope we can win trophies together and compete in the Europa League.”
FC Midtjylland believe Iheanacho’s familiarity with the club’s culture and style of play will help him settle quickly and contribute immediately as they prepare for the upcoming season.
The move is seen as another important step in the Nigerian’s career as he looks to establish himself at the highest level and continue his development in European football.
