Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons have regained their freedom after a dramatic police rescue operation that ended in a deadly confrontation with suspected kidnappers.
The victims were rescued alive on Saturday evening as at 7:30 pm June 6 , following days of intensive intelligence gathering and tactical operations by the Nigeria Police Force.
According to police sources, the mother and her twin sons, Peter and Paul, were abducted on June 3 while on their way to drop the children off at school.
Security operatives reportedly tracked the kidnappers to their hideout and engaged them in a fierce gun duel during the rescue mission.
The operation resulted in the death of two suspected kidnappers, while police recovered two firearms from the gang.
Authorities disclosed that sustained pressure from security personnel forced the abductors into a confrontation, ultimately leading to the successful rescue of the victims without harm.
Meanwhile, security operatives have launched a manhunt for other members of the kidnapping syndicate who escaped during the exchange of gunfire. Some of the fleeing suspects are believed to have sustained gunshot wounds.
The successful operation has been described as a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and violent crimes in the region.
