Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on Nigerians to remain united and support President Bola Tinubu and security agencies in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and other security threats facing the country.
In a statement issued on Friday, the governor said recent attacks in parts of Nigeria should not discourage citizens or weaken the nation’s determination to overcome insecurity.
Sanwo-Olu stressed that criminal violence affects all Nigerians regardless of political affiliation, urging citizens to set aside partisan interests and stand together against those threatening the country’s peace and stability.
Expressing sympathy for victims of recent attacks, the governor also offered prayers for the teachers and students abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing every life lost to violence as a tragedy.
According to him, Nigeria has survived difficult periods in the past, including economic, political, and security challenges, and will once again emerge stronger through resilience and unity.
He noted that defeating criminal networks requires collective action, adding that government efforts alone are not enough without the support, vigilance, and intelligence sharing of local communities.
Sanwo-Olu also expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and the ability of security agencies to tackle the security challenges confronting the nation.
The governor praised members of the armed forces and other security personnel for their sacrifices, describing them as courageous men and women working daily to protect lives and preserve the country’s freedom.
Addressing young Nigerians, he urged them not to lose hope despite current difficulties, assuring them that the country would eventually overcome its challenges.
Sanwo-Olu maintained that Nigeria’s collective strength remains greater than the actions of those seeking to spread fear and violence across the nation.
