The Kaduna State Police Command has rescued three kidnapped victims who spent over 40 days in captivity and arrested five suspected informants believed to be working with a kidnapping gang.
The successful operation was carried out by a joint security team following weeks of intelligence gathering, surveillance, and coordinated efforts aimed at tracking down the criminals.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, security operatives traced the kidnappers to a suspected hideout before launching the rescue mission.
He explained that the bandits fled the location upon sighting the approaching security personnel, abandoning the victims who were later rescued unharmed.
The freed victims were identified as Ekechikwu Omale, Ummi Salisu, both from Kudan Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and Pastor Daniel Tanko Bawa from Tufa Village in Niger State.
Following their rescue, the victims were taken for medical examination and treatment before being reunited with their families.
During the operation, security operatives also arrested five individuals suspected of providing information and logistical support to the kidnappers.
According to the police, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly assisted the criminal group by supplying intelligence that aided the abductions.
The Command disclosed that the suspects reportedly admitted their involvement during interrogation, while investigations continue to uncover other members of the network.
Commending the officers involved, Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, praised the professionalism and cooperation among security agencies that led to the breakthrough.
He reiterated the Command’s determination to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state, while urging residents to continue supporting security agencies with useful information.
The police also assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest other members of the kidnapping syndicate.
