Businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose has publicly criticised his elder brother and former Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, over his controversial comments linking the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State to Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.
In a video shared on his Facebook page, Isaac distanced himself from the former governor’s remarks, expressing disappointment and questioning the logic behind the allegation that the Oyo school abduction was orchestrated to embarrass President Bola Tinubu.
Reacting to Ayo Fayose’s television interview, Isaac argued that insecurity is a nationwide challenge affecting states across different political parties and should not be reduced to political accusations.
He questioned why similar claims were not made against governors in states where kidnappings and attacks have also occurred, including Ekiti State and several APC-controlled states battling insecurity.
According to him, blaming a governor for every security breach while ignoring the broader national challenge creates the wrong impression and risks politicising the suffering of victims and their families.
Isaac also expressed concern over public reactions to his brother’s comments, saying many Nigerians were beginning to question the motive behind such statements.
The younger Fayose urged the former governor to be more measured in his public comments, insisting that not every issue should be turned into a political battle.
In an emotional appeal, he called on his brother to reflect on his remarks and avoid statements that could deepen tensions surrounding the tragic abduction of the Oyo pupils and teachers.
The reaction came shortly after Ayo Fayose alleged during a television interview that the abduction may have been orchestrated in a way to blackmail President Tinubu, a claim that has generated widespread debate and criticism.
