Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has called on members of the City Boy Movement, particularly women and youths, to step up grassroots mobilisation efforts in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor made the appeal during a meeting with women coordinators of the movement in Awka, where he emphasized the important role young people and women play in shaping Nigeria’s political and economic future.
Soludo noted that despite receiving limited support from the South-East during the 2023 presidential election, Tinubu still emerged victorious. He urged the region to adopt a more strategic political approach as preparations gradually begin for the next election cycle.
According to the governor, women and youths should not remain on the sidelines but must actively participate in political discussions, governance, and decision-making processes that affect their future.
He also praised the activities of the women’s wing of the City Boy Movement, commending members for their dedication and engagement in promoting political participation across communities.
Soludo stressed that politics should be viewed as a tool for development and improving the lives of citizens, adding that his administration has continued to create opportunities for greater involvement of women and young people in governance.
The governor further encouraged the Igbo community to be more deliberate in its political choices, arguing that votes remain a powerful tool for negotiation and influence in a democratic system.
He assured members of the movement of his support and urged them to strengthen their organisation, mobilise effectively, and develop strategies that will help advance their political objectives.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Adaora Soludo, the Anambra State Women Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, said the organisation is committed to promoting the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration.
She explained that the movement serves as a link between government and the people, helping citizens better understand government initiatives while encouraging wider grassroots participation.
