Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, has expelled 365 students after an investigation uncovered the use of falsified academic documents to gain admission into the institution.
The affected students, who were enrolled in various Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes, were found to have allegedly submitted fake National Diploma (ND) results and forged academic transcripts during the admission process.
According to the polytechnic, the discovery was made during a thorough verification exercise carried out on credentials presented by students for admission and registration.
Massive Crackdown On Academic Fraud
The institution described the move as part of its determination to protect the integrity of its academic system and maintain high educational standards.
A breakdown released by the school showed that the highest number of expulsions came from the School of Communication and Information Technology, where 156 students were affected.
The School of Business and Management Studies followed with 117 expulsions, while 54 students were removed from the School of Science and Technology.
The School of Engineering recorded 36 expulsions, while two students were affected in the School of Environmental Studies.
MAPOLY Sends Strong Warning
Reacting to the development, the Rector of the institution, Dr. Koye Jolaoso, warned prospective applicants against attempting to gain admission through fraudulent means.
He stressed that the institution has zero tolerance for forgery, fraud, and any form of academic misconduct.
According to him, the decision reflects MAPOLY’s commitment to academic excellence, professionalism, transparency, and credibility in tertiary education.
The institution also reaffirmed its resolve to continue screening and verifying credentials to ensure only qualified candidates are admitted.
