A high-powered delegation from President Bola Tinubu’s administration has arrived in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, following the shocking abduction of dozens of pupils and teachers from schools in Oriire Local Government Area.
The team, led by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, includes National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Inspector-General of Police Tunde Disu, Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa, Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe, and presidential spokesman Sunday Dare.
The delegation is expected to visit Esiele and Yawota communities, where armed men reportedly launched coordinated attacks on schools, including Baptist Nursery and Primary School, making away with about 46 pupils and teachers.
The incident has sparked outrage and concern across the country, with families of the victims anxiously awaiting positive news about their loved ones.
Confirming the development, Sunday Dare disclosed that President Tinubu has already ordered intensified rescue efforts and directed security agencies to ensure those behind the attack are tracked down and brought to justice.
According to him, the President remains actively engaged in efforts to secure the safe release of the abducted victims while strengthening security operations in the affected communities.
The visit comes as relatives, community leaders, and concerned Nigerians continue to call for urgent action, hoping the intervention will accelerate rescue operations and bring an end to the painful ordeal of the kidnapped pupils and teachers.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had not released fresh details on the whereabouts of the victims, but rescue efforts are said to be ongoing.
