Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika (rtd), and former old Imo State governor, Major-Gen. Ike Nwachukwu (rtd), have thrown their weight behind Abia State Governor Alex Otti, praising his performance and expressing confidence in his chances of securing a second term.
The elder statesmen made the remarks during the commissioning of the Obilohia-Amune-Ovim Umuakwu Road in Isuikwuato Local Government Area, one of several projects unveiled as part of activities marking Otti’s third year in office.
Both men commended the governor’s commitment to infrastructure development, noting that visible projects across different parts of the state have changed the face of governance and improved the lives of residents.
According to them, Otti’s administration has distinguished itself through effective service delivery and a strong focus on development, earning the trust and support of many Abians.
The event also attracted prominent political and community leaders, including former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Uche Ogah, who applauded the governor’s efforts in driving growth and transformation across the state.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, Otti commissioned additional projects in Ohafia, Bende, and other communities, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to infrastructure and economic development.
The governor also announced that a section of the Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Ohafia Road would be named after the late Chief Otisi Kalu, whom he described as a key supporter and one of the pillars of his political movement.
Meanwhile, the Director-General of the Greater Ohafia Development Authority, Obinna Odum, said Otti’s achievements have earned him widespread admiration and support across Abia North.
He maintained that the governor’s impact on the state has been significant and predicted that residents would reward his performance with their votes in the next governorship election.
