Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has said Rivers State has every reason to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, citing what he described as the significant benefits and opportunities the state has received under the current administration.
Speaking at a political gathering in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike argued that Rivers people should compare the appointments, projects, and opportunities received since 2023 with what the state got under previous administrations.
According to the former Rivers governor, President Tinubu has demonstrated commitment to Rivers State through key federal appointments and developmental initiatives, making continued support for his administration a natural choice.
Wike maintained that politics should be driven by performance and development rather than ethnic or sectional considerations, urging residents to focus on leaders who deliver results.
The FCT Minister also charged political supporters to concentrate on grassroots mobilisation ahead of future elections, stressing that victories are secured at polling units and not on television screens.
Expressing confidence in the strength of the Rainbow Coalition, Wike predicted the group would play a dominant role in shaping Rivers politics in the coming years.
He further extended an olive branch to aggrieved politicians, calling for reconciliation and unity in the interest of the state’s progress and development.
Wike insisted that leadership should be based on competence and the ability to improve the lives of the people, rather than where a leader comes from.
