A House of Representatives aspirant under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Ugochukwu Okoji, has declared that the party’s presidential hopeful, Peter Obi, has what it takes to solve Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.
Speaking on Friday, the university lecturer and aspirant for Isiukwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in Abia State said Obi understands the country’s complex challenges and possesses the experience needed to tackle insecurity within the first few months in office.
According to Okoji, the NDC remains the political platform with practical solutions to Nigeria’s economic and security problems.
“Peter Obi understands the complexity of this country and possesses the experience and political exposure to solve the insecurity ravaging Nigeria within the first few months of his presidency,” he said.
The aspirant also explained that his decision to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives was driven by what he described as years of underrepresentation in the constituency.
Okoji promised to attract meaningful development projects to the area and sponsor people-oriented bills aimed at improving healthcare, infrastructure and education across the country.
“My desire to go to the National Assembly is to uplift the living conditions of my people. My people have suffered enough,” he stated.
He added that improving educational infrastructure, especially in public schools, would remain one of his top legislative priorities if elected.
“I possess what it takes mentally, intellectually and legislatively to change the fortunes of our constituency for good,” Okoji added.
