Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has declared that President Bola Tinubu is on course to receive 2.7 million votes from Edo State in the 2027 presidential election.
The governor made the statement on Saturday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary held in his hometown, Uwessa, in Esan Central Local Government Area.
Large numbers of APC supporters and party members reportedly turned out for the exercise as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum.
Speaking after casting his vote, Okpebholo expressed confidence in the growing support for President Tinubu and the APC across Edo State.
According to him, the massive turnout witnessed during the primary election reflects the increasing acceptance of the ruling party and the President’s leadership.
The governor insisted that the target of delivering 2.7 million votes for Tinubu in Edo remains realistic and achievable.
“You can see how happy the people are coming out to vote massively for Mr President,” Okpebholo said while addressing journalists after the exercise.
He further stated that APC structures in Edo State are already fully mobilised ahead of the 2027 elections.
The governor maintained that both the party and supporters in the state are prepared for the next general election cycle.
Okpebholo also acknowledged that some people may doubt the ambitious vote target but insisted that APC remains strongly positioned in the state.
Shortly after participating in the primary election, the governor visited the site of an ongoing 150-bed specialist hospital project in Uromi, Edo Central.
During the visit, he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, healthcare improvement and grassroots governance across the state.
The APC presidential primary was conducted nationwide on Saturday as the ruling party intensifies preparations for the 2027 elections.
